Demand for energy in Missouri is expected to grow by 3% annually until 2040, according to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
To meet demand, officials have begun to weigh the possibility of more nuclear power plants in Missouri. Potential projects such as nuclear “microreactors” were part of the discussion Thursday during the 2025 Missouri Nuclear Summit at the Missouri Theatre in Columbia.
