An important decision that pushes back so many municipalities looking to ruin the momentum of Missouri's greatest cash crop . . . Check-it:
The Supreme Court signed a majority opinion on Tuesday that essentially bans “stacking” of marijuana taxes.
Under the ruling, an incorporated village, town, or city may impose a 3% marijuana tax if the sale comes within its own jurisdiction. A county, however, can only impose a 3% marijuana tax if the sale happens in an unincorporated area of the county.
The decision overturns a previous interpretation that allowed counties to collect the taxes in incorporated areas, in addition to incorporated municipalities.
