And after so many years . . . It remains our jorb here at TKC to report angles on local stories that NOBODY ELSE is willing to talk about it . . . Even when the subject matter isn't so nice but applies to public policy and the politics of this town.
This time around . . . The Jackson County recall conversation is going off-yard . . . From our vantage we can only inform our readers that the mudslinging only starts when things are getting SERIOUS and it typically doesn't help anyone involved.
Nevertheless . . .
We've been ahead of this thing from the start and NOW IT'S GETTING PERSONAL . . .
Here's the word and the level of discourse at the Jackson County Courthouse . . .
BY NAME & IN WRITING JACKSON COUNTY EXEC FRANK WHITE HITS BACK AT THE LEGISLATURE IN A FULL FORCE STATEMENT THAT SHOWS HIS COMMITMENT TO STAYING IN OFFICE AND REFUSING RESIGNATION!!!
We didn't take this tact and don't think it's very effective . . . So don't blame us . . . Bet even for casual observes of local politics . . . These words are a VERY BIG DEAL as even local media is downplaying the level of vitriol . . .
Jackson County Executive Statement
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. issued the following statement in response to recent calls for his resignation:
"Let’s be clear: resigning wouldn’t save taxpayers a dime – it would cost them more, potentially billions over time. And it would hand over the keys to people like DaRon McGee and Manny Abarca, who’ve shown they’re more interested in cutting blank checks to private billion-dollar corporations and rewarding political allies than protecting the public.
“What’s even more troubling is who’s trying to paint me as corrupt. I have never stolen a dollar from taxpayers. I have never been convicted of a crime. I have never been accused of domestic violence or sexual harassment – in or out of public office. The same cannot be said for some of the very people calling for my resignation. And now they want to lecture the public about integrity? That’s not accountability; it’s deflection. A distraction designed to gain power, control and money.
“I won’t walk away and let them sell out our future just to win a political fight. My job is to defend the law, protect tax dollars and stand up for what’s right. And that’s exactly what I’ll do."
