Racially-Charged Kansas City Small Biz Prize Hits $100K

Don't get it twisted . . . TKC supports more cash for urban biz.

But we're pulling this quote which makes it clear that this cash is more about pushing a self-destructive agenda focused on blame rather than inspiring excellence and building community.  

Still . . .We don't begrudge anybody their cash and hope that local biz people put the money to good use.

On Prospect Avenue, where Kansas City G.I.F.T. Chief Operating Officer Kasia Harrington grew up, the realities of racial and economic injustice in the Black community were not abstract, they were daily life.

“The need goes back to what we know about our history and what we understand about systemic racism,” she said. “When you have a hyper-segregated city, you find that the people that live in the urban core, the most disenfranchised, also have the hardest road to get to.”
