Why have just one party place inside the loop when taxpayers can subsidize TWO for double the money?!?!
Top photo credit . . . A recently busted downtown plan that fell through when Port KC got cozy with developers who had probs with the feds.
Without any semblance of democratic representation baked into to this scheme . . . Here's the answer:
Port KC announced on Monday, July 28, that the Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to issue bonds and authorize a new development in the 800 block of Grand Blvd.
Commissioners said they authorized up to $480 million in taxable revenue bonds to be issued for the proposal, which is expected to be constructed in 2 phases over a 5-year period.
The new development is expected to include
A landmark residential tower;
The adaptive reuse of the historic Scarritt building into a 167-key UMusic-branded destination hotel;
Nearly 320 multi-family residences;
28,000 square feet of ground-level retail;
A 1,400-seat music and entertainment venue.
