On Monday night, the city council approved a plan to buy the former NCAA headquarters at College Boulevard and Lamar Avenue to turn it into a new city hall.
“This is an important project that will bring the center of city business to the center of our city,” said Mayor Curt Skoog. “This investment will streamline operations, make it easier for residents to participate in city business and provide more modern workspaces for our public servants.”
The council voted unanimously to buy the office tower for $22.5 million. Preliminary estimates for renovations include an additional $86.5 million. The total estimated cost of the project is $109 million.
