Kansas City firefighter-paramedic Graham Hoffman was on the job when a patient, his patient, stabbed and killed him, according to investigators.
When he died, it seemed as though the whole city went into mourning.
Two months later, another medic came under attack, bitten on his stomach in the back of an ambulance. More recently, according to a probable cause affidavit from a Kansas City detective, on July 6, a man off his medications threatened to kill himself and tried to assault two paramedics and a Kansas City police officer as they rode to a hospital.
Court papers say the man also allegedly spat into one of their faces saying, "I have AIDS."
