Kansas City Police Start Door-To-Door Initiative To Curb Homicides

Already, some of our favorite people on the planet are a bit skeptical about the effort.

The biggest question:

WHAT KIND OF RESPONSE WILL KCPD EARN WITH THIS DOOR-TO-DOOR OUTREACH EFFORT?!?

"Sorry, heard it all before, I'm not opening the door for them." 

And via social media chatter, there are more than a few people who don't seem like they'll be helpful. 

Nevertheless . . .  

TKC hopes it goes well and trying something new is critical as the homicide count trends higher than last year so far this Summer 2025.

Sadly, whilst the rest of the nation enjoys crime reduction, KCMO still struggles with more deadly gunfire.

"South Patrol Commander Major Kari Thompson explained South Patrol’s new “Take Back the Block” initiative that involves officers going door-to-door in blocks where homicides have recently occurred or there have been recent high levels of other crimes at South Patrol’s anti-crime meeting and resource fair June 26.

"Modeled after a successful program in Chicago, Thompson said the program involves officers giving residents specific strategies to improve their safety and also inquiring about their needs so they can be referred to social service agencies that can provide prompt and effective help."
