Kansas City Paying Top Dollar For 18th & Vine Art Amid EPIC Jazz District Revival

Not so long ago . . .

Even progressives were disappointed that KCMO has plunked down at least 100 MILLION BUCKS on the 18th & Vine District and there's still no viable profit model or attempt at self-sustainability. 

Nowadays, that not-so-fun fact is too embarrassing to mention in public. 

However,

It's always fund to remind locals that KCMO subsidy of this place has endured longer than the jazz age.

To wit . . .

Here's a glimpse at the latest effort to pay out more politically active locals in support of yet another development scheme . . . 

Two to 5 semifinalist artists will be asked to advance to the Request For Proposal (RFP) phase and propose designs. Semifinalists will be paid a design proposal stipend of $2,775. The maximum budget available for this project is $185,000, all inclusive.

All art must fit within a reserved space measuring 29’ H x 20’ W on the north façade of the garage.

The $20-million garage project will involve the reconstruction of the surface lot at 18th Street and Lydia Avenue, as part of Revive the Vine, Kansas City’s $400+ million reinvestment initiative in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District. Developers Grayson Capital will be building multi-family housing around the parking garage.
