Here's what we've learned in local politics . . .
It might be better to be boring.
More importantly . . .
Given constant low turnout KCMO voting . . .
The "low-key" political skill of councilman Crispin Rea shouldn't be underestimated as we slouch toward upcoming municipal elections.
A new Westside pool might not seem like a big deal . . . In fact, it's literally just a few steps from this basement BUT . . . It's the kind of nice thing that pathologically polite KC voters want to hear.
Moreover . . .
With so many local politicos promising to fight for social justice, stand up to save the Republic and battle against threats from across the globe . . . A guy who can deliver a local pool for youngsters might seem like a nicer option.
Right now the main contender and front runner for the next KCMO mayor with congressional support is "Dr. Melissa Patterson Hazley" and her "Kamala vibes" aren't doing her any favors even in her own backyard.
Council Lady Parks-Shaw is a distant third as of this writing but actually might be more popular than so many of her critics realize.
And so . . . For close denizens of the local discourse . . .
This minor local ripple has a mighty undercurrent of cowtown political context . . . Check-it:
"This is an important moment and a proud moment for this community," Councilman Crispin Rea, 4th District at Large said. "For years, the city has not invested the resources that we need to, and now we are. It is going to have a great impact on the quality of life."
