Simmons, right tackle, and Gillotte, a third-round edge rusher, went head-to-head for just a few moments before teammates and coaches intervened.
“Competitive spirit, man. It’s hot and you get ornery,” said head coach Andy Reid when asked about the incident after practice.
Simmons and Gillotte have competed against each other during practice since training camp began.
