Jackson County Letter To Guv Kehoe Warns Of Property Tax Crisis & Small Biz Impact

(Jackson County Legislator Manny) Abarca says assessments have led to increases of up to 1,600%, which he warned could result in business closures and threaten Missouri’s economic stability.

“Without immediate action, small businesses and homeowners will suffer, and Missouri’s economic competitiveness will be in jeopardy,” Abarca said in a news release. “The lack of oversight and accountability in Jackson County’s assessment process is not just a local issue, this is a statewide problem. I am urging Governor Kehoe to use his constitutional authority and issue an executive order, immediately calling for changes to the 2025 assessment process before it’s too late.”
