"The vote was 8-0 Friday morning at the Jackson County Courthouse. Legislator Megan Smith abstained from supporting the veto override.
"On this issue, there was some tension between the legislative chair, DaRon McGee, who wants the election Aug. 26, and Smith, who -- like the election boards -- want the election to be set for Nov. 4. "
