Insiders: Jackson County Executive Frank White Could VETO Recall

Here's something that nobody likes to admit in local media and government . . .

VERY FEW PEOPLE UNDERSTAND HOW THE JACKSON COUNTY CHARTER WORKS!!!

In this entire town there's maybe four or five people who understand the byzantine system.

Our friends have always attempted to guide us through the more complicated rules and here's a bit of INSIDE WORD shared with www.TonysKansasCity.com that offers one scenario which deserves consideration . . .

At least until Missouri officials get involved . . .

Check-it:

"Soooooooooo, there’s a subtle play happening, INSIDERS ON THE LEGISLATURE are teeing up an ordinance to effectively FAIL, so that Frank stays till the end of his term because there is no clear successor. Effectively squeezing everyone and keeping Frank.

Putting forward the recall as an ordinance means Frank gets to veto it, and INSIDERS control the sixth vote that won’t come to override a veto.

Mind you, there is no legal requirement that I have seen that would require us to petition for a ballot like the stadiums. This is a charter called election, similar to the charter calling next year’s executive and legislative race. SOME INSIDERS ON THE LEGISLATURE, as always, want to step into the Executive job without a vote or a competitive contest."
