And nobody cares . . . Actually, a lot of people knew this was coming YET WE'RE STILL GRATEFUL for some of the best TKC readers who sent the kick-off notice our way.
Our main question . . .
IS COUNCIL LADY & MAYOR PRO TEM PARKS-SHAW NOW THE FRONT RUNNER FOR THIS EPIC CONTEST?!?
Some claim she's Mayor Q's fave . . .
Whilst others think she has "too much baggage" from her council career.
Allow us a brief bloggy aside for perspective . . .
Let's not forget the debacle when she was first named Mayor Pro Tem and INCORRECTLY labeled as the first African-American female to achieve the designation.
In fact, community news and local leaders were OUTRAGED because local history was forgotten in the name of granting Mayor Q another victory.
In the end it turned out okay because the lady who REALLY achieved the milestone earned another honor before she was mugged by some junkie near the T-mobile center shortly thereafter. The last we heard . . . The incomparable Joanne Collins continues her recovery whilst wearing a stylish hat.
But I digress . . .
Here's what our blog contends and local newsies are fearful of saying out loud:
The goal for many KCMO leaders to is "achieve" the first Black female city hall honcho in our cowtown's history with the next mayoral election.
It's a noble pursuit but quite a few voters would rather focus on qualifications, experience and ideas rather that social justice directives.
Reality check . . . These municipal elections are ALWAYS low-turnout affairs so getting too riled up about any of this would be a mistake.
