According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, who is investigating the shooting, the suspect was allegedly armed with a handgun and had pointed the weapon at an ambulance.
The highway patrol said KCPD officers arrived on scene and gave commands in an attempt to take the man into custody.
Two minutes later, shots were fired.
The suspect was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
