She might even have union support already . . .
Here's what we admire . . .
She's cosplaying a local Latina . . .
But she doesn't have much in common with most Latinas in Kansas City. Don't get it twisted, we're sure her Spanish diction is PERFECT but she's not a REALLY Westsider or a Midtowner. She's a professional Latina AND a professional activist.
Not that there's anything wrong with that . . .
Council dude Eric Bunch is termed out and even if she is a commie . . . She'll still be better than than COMPLETELY WORTHLESS placeholder politico.
The reality . . .
Getting worked up about in-district council contests is a waste of time if only because they're decided by such a small margin with very little interest beyond special interests.
Still . . .
We can't deny that her candidacy has scared a few of our old school friends . . . And maybe that might "inspire" them to find a better candidate.
For now, with a few union shout outs and local progressive love . . . She's stepped into an early lead.
Check her recent announcement and local pitch . . .
"I bring the energy and vision that our neighbors need, built on years in public service at both the City and the County, experience as a community organizer–where I have fought for both tenant rights and the needs of non-English speaking Kansas Citians, and years volunteering as an elected leader in my neighborhood. It's time for new, progressive ideas to build a city that meets the needs of its residents and champions everyone's voice."
