Property managers say the bell tower may have to come down. An engineering study from April shows that the bell tower leans and runs the risk of falling.

Neighbors aren’t happy about the potential removal of the historic tower. They want it preserved or restored.

“It’s leaning. It's in danger of completely collapsing,” Velinda McCarthy, who manages the property at the Loretto, said on Tuesday. “We don't want to risk someone getting hurt.”
