Kansas City Police Chase Suspect After Latest Deadly Mass Shooting

Gunfire echoed through local streets again early this morning and hit multiple people leaving one victim dead.

Unofficially, we count this as the 81st homicide so far in KCMO for 2025 vs 72 at this time last year.

From our vantage . . . This might be one of the more troubling aspects of this trend:

Criminals firing off rounds and hitting more than three people at a time deserves a great deal of attention and merits concern as we move forward into Summer 2025.

Here's the report as KCPD continues investigate the scene .  . .

Homicide 4800 block of E 24th St

Tonight about 2:10am officers were dispatched to 24th and Lister on a shooting call.

On arrival officers were directed to a parking lot on the corner of the intersection. They located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive there.

Officers rendered aid to the victim and called for EMS. EMS responded and took over treatment of the victim. EMS transported the victim to the hospital where he was declared deceased by medical personnel.

While at the scene officers were notified of 3 additional victims who had been shot at this location.

One victim arrived by private vehicle at a hospital, one victim went to a residence in the 3900 block of Chelsea and was subsequently transported to the hospital by EMS, and one victim was located at 19th and Oak in the process of being transported to the hospital, that victim was transported to the hospital by EMS as well.

All three living victims are adult males and all are reported to be in stable condition at the hospital.

Homicide detectives are at the scene canvassing for any witnesses. They will also be speaking with people who were at the scene when officers arrived to get a better idea of what led up to the shots being fired and the victims being struck. Crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence at this time.

If anyone was in this area around that time and heard or saw anything or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
