Kansas City Playlist: Iran From Nuke Bunker Busting 2025

We hope to talk about it more for the morning but at this late hour only one thing is clear . . .

The United States is entangled in yet another Middle-East crusade despite so many promises to the contrary.

And so we just wanted to share a few relevant news links that have captured our attention and seem suitable for late night local blog lurkers:

Trump's big gamble in Iran is a risky moment after his pledges to keep US out of 'stupid wars'

President Donald Trump has expressed certainty that his big gamble to directly assist the Israelis delivered a knockout blow to Iran's nuclear program - even as many of his supporters and detractors are warning that U.S. military action could lead the United States into an expansive regional conflict . . .

Some lawmakers in both parties question the legality of Trump's Iran strikes

Several members of Congress in both parties on Saturday questioned the legality of President Donald Trump's move to launch military strikes on Iran.

White House photos show rare look inside the Situation Room as Trump authorizes strikes in Iran

The White House published a series of photos from inside the Situation Room on its X account as President Donald Trump authorized strikes that hit nuclear sites in Iran.

Trump addresses nation on 'spectacular military success' of US strikes of Iranian nuclear facilities

President Donald Trump addressed the nation on Saturday evening after the U.S. military carried out successful strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities.

Israel-Iran war stretches into a second week without diplomatic breakthrough

Hours of talks aimed at de-escalating fighting between Israel and Iran have failed to produce a diplomatic breakthrough as the war enters its second week with a fresh round of strikes between the two adversaries.

And because this is late night . . . Let's be honest . . .

TKC does not have the skill, insight or connections to accurately share perspective on these international events . . .We trust our ability to myth-bust 12th & Oak every day of the g*ddamn week but when it's comes to space-age tech and bunker busking nuke power moves . . . All of that is above our pay-grade like most things on the wrong side of the 39th street and/or Southwest Blvd.

The only thing we know for certain . . .

When it comes to global politics we're pretty sure that EVERYBODY is lying and NOBODY has the best interests of Kansas City at heart.

And we share this time-tested Westside skepticism if only to save locals a little bit of heart break when they try to understand sketchy politics of their betters and all the scumbags who control our fate.

What we do know . . .

Is that if you're up late/early than TKC offers more than a few relevant tunes to share for this moment in history as seen from our cowtown . . .

An 80s classic that hit MTV back when we were in grade school . . . "The End Of The World As we Know It" by R.E. M. has proven apropos for so many times that the U.S. started a war and serves to remind us that THERE ARE NO GOOD GUYS no matter how much the talk shows try to convince us.

A TKC reader request and a reminder . . . There won't be many sons or daughters of the Beltway elite fighting & dying in ongoing U.S. Middle-East crusades.

The Gap Band - You Dropped A Bomb On Me . . . Don't even front . . . You know why and also realize that Charlie Wilson and his brothers might be the greatest and most underrated funk band of all time . . . And that's something everyone should know before WWIII erases human history.

A reality check for tonight . . .

Every single broke-ass American is anti-war.

That's just reality because street level plebs inevitably witness so many homeless and broken soldiers on local streets long after the political chatter shifts to another hot topic. And so . . . This old school Brit track about "War Pigs" is grandiose but still holds up for its doomsday appeal.

Updated . . . This playist is getting too serious . . . Given that we're talking about bunker busting . . . Young MC's 1989 pop-hip-hop classic "Bust A Move" seems relevant for two reasons . . . Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers was literally in a parking lot and said "Hellz YEAH!" when asked to appear in this video . . . His segment was filmed in about 15 minutes . . . Also, the breakdown sample was taken from a classic jazz track "Scorpio" by Dennis Coffey and The Detroit Guitar Band and reminds us that music is built over generations even when it might seem trite or simple.

Buffalo Springfield - "For What It's Worth 1967" is perfect for the bridge because it reminds us of the hippie boomer era that put up a great protest fight against "forever wars" but inevitably traded it all in for German cars and fancy middle-class groceries.

Finally, we had a more melancholy song picked out but "To War" from Duck Soup is the only thing that makes sense right now.

The absurdist scene from 1933 serves to remind us that we've seen this movie before . . . Up to and including the impending terrorist attack that will "manufacture consent" to delve even further into this crusade and sacrifice more lives . . .

Again, because all of sound, fury & smart bombs represent decisions over which American voters have very little control . . . A bit of laugh is about the only respite for anybody who bothers to think about it . . . Don't worry, most don't.

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe & fun Saturday night.
