Kansas City Gunfight Kills Man Near Apartment Complex

An overnight gathering turned deadly and continues to spike local homicide numbers.

The KCPD daily homicide report isn't out yet but we think this might be killing #75 so far for 2025 which pushes us far past last year's numbers at this time.

Homicide 4300 blk of Northern  

The evening, just after 10 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to the 4300 block of Northern on a reported disturbance. While officers were in route they received information that other callers reported sounds of shots in the area. Additional callers reported a shooting at the location.

As officers arrived they were directed to the outside of an apartment building. There they located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. KCFD EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. Officers located an additional adult male victim on scene suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary information revealed there was a disturbance between several individuals that led to shots being fired and the victims being struck. Detectives are canvassing the scene for witnesses and surveillance footage. Crime scene personnel are processing the scene for all available physical evidence.
