
This is one of our favorite posts from faithful scribe Bill Tammeus that should inspire hope in even the most cynical readers . . . This passage is remarkable and deserves consideration from every partisan vantage . . . Here's the word:
"The old divisive way of separating us by race or color or other dreamed-up differences is slowly dying, though not quickly enough.
"What unites us is far more important than what divides us. Evidence of that can be seen almost everywhere you look -- if you have eyes trained to pay attention to that rather than to ultimately unimportant differences between and among us. (Yes, cultures can differ in rich and countless ways, but, as the Human Genome Project taught us, all humans are more than 99 percent alike genetically, and the idea of race is a social or political construct, not a scientific one.)"
