Kansas City 2025 Homicide #83: East Side Fight Ends In Gunfire

Unofficially, this latest local homicide represents a 13% spike in KCMO killing over last year.

Even worse . . .

Despite so many promises of progress: The number of homicides this year remains on track with some of the deadliest years in KCMO history that have nearly all occurred during the tenure of Mayor Q.

Here's the first report and TV news coverage this morning . . .

Homicide 3300 block of Cypress

Just before 10pm officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Cypress on a shooting call.

On arrival officers were directed to the front of a residence, where they located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive in the front yard of the residence.

Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived and took over treatment. EMS declared the victim deceased here at the scene.

Homicide detectives are now on scene investigating. They are canvassing for any witnesses and Crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence to give detectives a better idea of what led up to the shooting.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and one or more suspects had an interaction in front of the residence that escalated to gunfire and the victim was struck

If anyone was in this area around that time and heard or saw anything or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
