Deadly Kansas City 18th & Vine Mass Shooting Sparks Chaos

A few things that readers should consider this morning . . .

As gunfire and screams echoed through this entertainment district officers RAN TOWARD the danger.

This spate of gunfire comes after MILLIONS has been invested in the district this month in ongoing hopes of economic renewal. 

Funding for the jazz district has endured longer than the jazz age and yet there is still no viable profit model or hope so many business to stand on their own.

For now . . . Here's the latest report . . . 

Homicide 18th and Vine

This morning, just after 2AM officers working in the Vine District observed a large number of people running out of the area near 19th and Vine yelling that someone was armed with a firearm and firing shots.

Officers ran in the direction if gunfire and located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot trauma and unresponsive. He was declared deceased at the scene by EMS. Officers on scene were later notified that one adult female and four adult male victims, were transported by private conveyance to an area hospital suffering from gunshot trauma. Those individuals had varying degrees of injuries and all have been listed in stable condition.

Preliminary investigation indicates a large disturbance broke out between an unknown number of individuals that escalated to gunfire resulting in multiple people being struck. One adult male has been taken into custody pending further investigation. Detectives will continue to investigate for any additional individuals that may have been involved in this incident.

This is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.
