This Summer he seems to be taking the lead on street racing crackdown in Kansas City.
Here's the latest update . . .
After a year of complaints about loud engines, dangerous stunts, and public safety risks, the Kansas City Council passed two ordinances aimed at shutting down the problem. The first measure gives police the authority to immediately impound vehicles that are not street-legal, even if they aren’t actively engaged in racing or reckless behavior.
“Before, they had to wait for some kind of street racing activity, some kind of performative act,” Councilman Crispin Rea said. “These vehicles are not street legal, and that’s always been the case. This just says they can now be impounded simply for being on the streets.”
The urgency for action escalated after a Kansas City police officer was hospitalized when an ATV driver ran him over. That individual was later arrested and charged by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.
