The Kansas City Fire Department responded to a reported natural gas line rupture near W. 24th Street and Southwest Boulevard just after 1:20 p.m.
When crews arrived on scene they found a four-inch line had been struck during digging operations. Spire said that a third-party contractor for a separate utility caused the damage.
