Kansas City Tornado Risk Tonight?!?!

Actually, most weather forecasts in this town are nothing more than a best guess . . . But we notice that Joe Lauria guesses better than most . . . Here's a glimpse at tonight and the week ahead . . .

"Today’s tornado risk is a more traditional southern and central Plains risk. Although there seems to have been a dearth of these setups over the last few years.

"Today, we have a more typical set-up for supercells and the attendant risk of tornadoes. This risk is out toward central and south central Kansas. The SPC has upgraded that area to a level 4 risk in the morning update."

Another day of severe storms are expected across the Central and Southern Plains on Sunday. Large hail, at least two inches in diameter, damaging winds and strong tornadoes are all possible as storms march eastward throughout the day.
