Kansas City Police ATV Crackdown Amid Global Shame: Will It Work?!?

After headlines across the world declared Kansas City a "hellhole" amid outcry from local biz over illegal street racing and overall mayhem; last night police conducted a downtown sweep targeting illicit ATV riders.

The bigger question . . .

WILL THIS CRACKDOWN PROVE EFFECTIVE AFTER YEARS OF WEEKEND CHAOS ON ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT STREETS!!!

The point the police are making is exceptionally valid . . . These stunt riders are armed and dangerous, very brave law enforcement officers risked a lot by conducting this operation.

However . . .

KC is home to HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF ATV RIDERS and a night in jail might not scare them off. In fact, if they're brazen enough to point a weapon at cops . . . Then altering this kind of behavior will take cooperation from the entire local criminal justice system . . . Fair or not, these riders confront the possibility that they'll be made an example out of . . . Which is something that might hopefully discourage this kind of behavior overall.

And let's be even more real . . .

Kansas City Police are smart & increasingly media savvy, they shred this news when MSM is typically taking a break and in a local weekend dead zone wherein TV staffers would just re-post the report rather than try to unpack it.

Now, just a bit of TKC sh*ts, giggles and snark . . . Of course chubby Latinos were easiest to catch!!! Sorry dudes, that's usually how it works and circumstances will only get worse when the politics of the current administration won't feel much sympathy or have any incentive to take it easy against offenders . . . Brief aside: This kinda reminds us of our wasted youth and salvation reptilian instinct for self-preservation by way of Brit pop lit over more self-destructive American habits. But I digress . . .

One last shout . . .

LATINO ILLEGAL ATV RIDERS AREN'T IN FOR AN EASY TIME & WILL LIKELY, DESERVEDLY CONFRONT THE FULL FORCE OF THE LAW!!!

The difference here is that friends, family and community will likely joke, tease and snicker rather than support a social justice movement in their defense . . . Call it blessed South of the border fatalism that nobody REALLY thinks these youngsters were just about to turn their lives around.

More importantly . . .

Here's the report that police are sharing that's already going viral on the local Internets . . .

"Last night, officers were attempting to arrest an ATV driver who was breaking the law when a suspect(s) in a vehicle pointed a weapon at them.

"These suspects tried to flee, but could not. Officers arrested all four people in the vehicle, including juveniles. They recovered three guns. Felony charges are pending.

"The officers involved were added to our Entertainment District Plan, which the department activated last week, earlier than previous years. Extra officers will continue to be present."
