Amid the current epoch of AI slop and algorithmic social media garbage . . . Every so-called "content creator" is forced to admit that not everything is going to be a masterpiece.
In fact . . .
Nowadays the mediocre might be better than most if it's produced "authentically" as the "cult of the amateur" probably isn't killing our society but, in fact, defining it.
C'mon, man . . . Not everything can be Shakespeare given that even some of his catalog is hot garbage.
Accordingly . . . And with a lot of humility because we understand that basement bloggers don't even register on any sort of celeb radar . . .
This weekend Kansas City's B-list and all their buddies gathered for a traditional party in support of an EXCELLENT cause . . . Check the postscript news roundup . . .

Tonight's quickie www.TonysKansasCity.com playlist examines the rough, fleeting & ethereal nature of low-end celebrity in a town where most people can't name their state rep or in-district council member . . .
As always, we start with 90s nostalgia . . . 1999 was the moment with high-speed college campus Internet replaced college-radio. Here's the backstory for one of the first "viral" videos featuring a slew of B-list celebs . . . Singer-songwriter Bree Sharp turned a fan obsession with David Duchovny into a record deal with her witty ode to Fox's fox. "The song is about David, but it's also about the way fantasy and reality blur," Sharp says.
Some more insight into a tune that a clever video from Spike Jonze killed . . . Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo’s friends made fun of his Asian girlfriend; he was upset and responded by writing “Buddy Holly.” It was a defining song of the ’90s, and MTV stitched the music video into American culture through endless rotation.
Just to TRY and stay a bit more current . . . BOTH is track that's only about a year old and combines two things that Midwesterners hate: Hip-hop & Euro-trash . . . And maybe that's why TKC smiles every time the algorithm sends us this mumble rap electronica classic from Tiƫsto & BIA with 21 Savage . . .
Another 90s staple . . . Back in the last decade of the "19th century" (as Gen-Z dirt-bags call it) . . . Everyone thought this song was about the fleeting nature of fame. Instead, it turns out Counting Crows lead singer & songwriter Adam Duritz claims it was just about a night out with a friend watching his dad play flamenco guitar.

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe & fun Saturday night . . .
