Kansas City Homicide #59: Gunfire Kills Victim Overnight

Early this morning Kansas City police respond to tragedy and a dangerous crime scene. 

As KCMO records 3 homicides in less than 24 hours, here's the first report and more deet regarding the ongoing investigation . . .

Homicide 4200 block of College

This morning just after 2am officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of College on a shooting call.

On arrival officers were directed to an adult male shooting victim that was unresponsive on the sidewalk in front of a house there.

Officers rendered aid and called for EMS to the scene. EMS declared the victim deceased.

Homicide detectives have responded and are investigating. They are canvassing for witnesses and any other information. Additionally they are talking with several individuals who were at the scene when officers arrived.

Crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim had an interaction in front of the residence with one or more suspects that escalated and led to gunfire, which struck the victim.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
