Kansas City Hipster Joints Abandon Westport Amid Rising Violence

For this local foodie post, we need to read between the lines . . .

SINCE 2020 WESTPORT HAS BEEN INCREASINGLY ROUGH & UNFRIENDLY FOR MANY VISITORS!!!

With the exception of Kelly's & Harry's  . . . This midtown historic party place has a COMPLETELY different vibe that mostly serves to scare away suburbanites after dark. That's a cruel reality but something that's undeniable to anybody who has visited the place recently.

And so . . .

With "evolving" party preferences . . . It's getting harder for hipsters to keep up appearances.

Here's one more example from local foodie reporter Joyce Smith . . .

Atomic Cowboy officials sent this statement: “After 5 great years, Atomic Cowboy will be closing our Westport location. Our last day of service is Sunday, May 19th. We’re incredibly grateful to the neighborhood and community for supporting us over the years - we’ve loved being part of it.”

They directed customers to their downtown Overland Park restaurant, which opened at 7101 W. 80th St. in early 2024.
