Kansas City Happy Mother's Day 2025

Today and every day we understand that this basement blog wouldn't exist without mom's basement.

And so . . .

Just in case she's reading, and if we don't have time to holler from under the stairs . . .

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

A bit of context . . .

As usual that's TKC (and his huge noggin) being carried and coddled far more than we deserve.

Mother's Day posts can get overly sentimental, saccharine or cringe-y . . . So we'll save our weeping for a private call.

For the purposes of this blog we'll simply share an apropos song . . .

"Mama Said" is a song performed by the Shirelles, written by Luther Dixon and Willie Denson. It became a top-ten hit, on both the pop and R&B charts, when it was released as a single in 1961. "Mama Said" went number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the R&B chart.

My mom was just a kid when the song debuted but the tune inspires a sense of nostalgia for a forgotten time when young mama TKC would dance with her sisters, laugh and annoy my Grandma in much the same way that I entertained her during the far less iconic disco-era.

I love you momma.

Repeat the words if your lucky enough to have your mom around, maybe even if not.

And with that we'll share this www.TonysKansasCity.com favorite and hope it brightens your day . . .
