About the top photo . . . The so-called "paper clip" was Kansas City's official logo/seal after a series of design efforts in the 1960s. The Mayor & Council made it official in 1970 and it reigned until a silly "city of fountains" logo in 1992. For old heads and locals with a sense of nostalgia, this symbol defines KCMO.
