Kansas City 2025 Homicide #66: Deadly Gunfire Erupts Near Troost

This weekend starts with more gunfire and another fatality as the local homicide count continues to climb.

Homicide 8200 block of Tracy

This evening, at 8:45 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to 82nd Terrace and Troost on a reported shooting. While in route officers received numerous calls about sounds of shots in the area. They received an additional call that there was a victim in the 8200 block of Tracy.

As officers arrived they located an adult male victim in the street. He was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and officers immediately began performing life saving measures. KCFD EMS responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

This is being investigated as a homicide and there is no one in custody at this point. Preliminary information indicated there was an altercation between several individuals in the street that led to shots being fired and the victim being struck. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance footage. Crime scene personnel are processing the scene for physical evidence.
