Kansas City 2025 Homicide #52: Woman Shot Dead In Midtown

For the second time this week, a woman was gunned down on local streets.

Also, the local homicide count continues to escalate . . . 

At this time last year there had only been 48 people killed. 

Accordingly . . .

We wanted to share this aftermath report as violence against women continues to trend in KC and across the metro . . . Here's the word . . .

Homicide 37th and Pennsylvania

Tonight at 9:45pm officers were dispatched to 37th and Pennsylvania on a shooting call. Callers reported hearing the sound of gunfire and looked out and saw a person down in the street.

On arrival officers located an adult female shooting victim in the street unresponsive.

Officers rendered aid and summoned EMS to the scene for treatment. EMS declared the victim deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives are at the scene and investigating this case as a homicide. They are canvassing for witnesses and any additional evidence. Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene as well for evidence.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was at the location when she had an interaction with one or more suspects that led to gunfire and the victim was struck.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
