Ingram's 2025 40 Under 40 Features Political Power Player DaRon McGee

The Ingram's 40 under 40 list was once a VERY BIG DEAL in the days before the Internets and constant social media self-promotion. Now, like everything else, it's a niche publication for those of us who want a more focused view of the local biz scene.

But more importantly . . .

We notice Jackson County Legislative Chariman DaRon McGee earning a spot on the list and that's important because the Jackson County Legislative Chair is now the low-key front runner to earn the top spot at the courthouse amid the current downfall of Exec Frank White.

Of course Mr. McGee has his critics but what we like is his version of "soft power" that has survived by way of forging coalitions and connections throughout KC . . . What locals don't know is that Mr. McGee keeps close contact with his constituents in South KC and even into Eastern Jack despite partisan differences . . . That's something that most "urban" reps ignore and that's part of why politically savvy locals have Mr. McGee on their essential list of contacts.

That's our takeaway and we invite readers to check the list of local rising stars and their their perspective:

"Spotlighting the high achievers from every corner of regional business Executives and entrepreneurs, innovators and engineers, dreamers and doers. In many locales, 40 diverse achievers like this might pursue their separate destinies in business and never cross paths."
