Agree or disagree with the sentiment . . . We think there is a great deal of brilliance in this passage from Kansas City newsman Bill Tammeus:
"The internal differences among members of the Catholic Church have been, for the most part, more genteel and civilized than the internal struggle inside the Republican Party in the U.S., which Donald Trump's MAGA movement has taken over and radically changed for the worse -- perhaps forever.
"But divisions inside the walls of any institutional religious structure can get almost as nasty and brutal as those we find in secular politics, which is one reason some people simply walk away from religion. They had hoped for something better, more loving."
