KCFD Shares Tribute To Slain Paramedic

We're posting more info on reflections following a horrific tragedy if only because more compassionate perspectives have been lost amid debate over the brutal murder . . .

Now, the Kansas City Fire Department community and his loved ones are left grappling with the tragic loss of the 29-year-old, who dedicated his life to helping others . . . “He was amazing,” said EMS Division Chief Paul Paikoski, who supervised Hoffman's paramedic training. “He had a very outgoing personality. Always came into class with a smile. Never late. Always just very eager to learn. And just became one of my favorites. And I think a lot of it was because his personality, it was just so outgoing. Just really wanted to learn.”

Paikoski said Hoffman was just three years into his career with the department but was ambitious and eager to learn.

"We've lost a member that was dedicated to this community," he said. "A very dedicated paramedic, a very dedicated firefighter, somebody who was at the, at the start of his career. He'd been on three years. He, you know, was just going to keep on climbing."
