"People reported power flickering as far north as St. Joseph and an hour south of Overland Park. People in Grain Valley, Odessa, Blue Springs and Lee's Summit also experienced the quick flicker of power.
"According to Evergy, this was a result of an equipment failure just before 8 p.m.
"Evergy said the backup system operated as designed and prevented a customer outage."
