A great many thanks to this www.TonysKansasCity.com reader who shares well-written, insightful and pithy commentary about the car wreck we all witnessed . . . We really like this note sent our way and it's much more insightful than most of what we've seen in the local MSM . . . Here's the word . . .
This loss was devastating and the Chiefs will hear about it all off season.
TKC, after that dismantling the Chiefs received at the hands of the Eagles Sunday it’s interesting how quickly the narrative changed. Before Sunday, the story locally was, “Best dynasty ever?” Is Mahomes better than Brady? Andy Reid best HC of all time? But after listening to the local post game shows the narrative is now, the Eagles were the better team and KC will be back. I don’t think these talking heads get just how bad this loss really is.
While we know what the local narrative was, nationally their narrative was a complete 180. On every social media page the story was that the Chiefs were a mediocre team propped up by bias, faulty officiating, because the NFL wanted to capitalize on making money in the short term.
All the pressure was on KC to prove the haters wrong. Of course that didn’t happen. Kelce looked every bit of the term washed up. Not only did Mahomes have his worst game in the NFL. He had one of the worst games any QB had in the SB. And Reid might be a year or two from retirement then a lot of fans want to admit. Then to make matters worst, Taylor Swift was booed out of the building. The look on her face was one half confusion. One half terror. I guess no one told Taylor Eagle fans infamously booed Santa Claus.
Now if the Chiefs sure up their O-line maybe trade for a WR (Could you imagine Hill coming back?) would it surprise me if they make it back to the SB next year? No. But this loss has franchise changing game written all over it. Kelce and Reid could be done in a year or two. And I don’t think PM is the same without them. This is going to be a long off season for the Chiefs. Just take the heat and enjoy the ride.
