Again, there has been progress in moving the level of local killing downward, but that doesn't mean our longstanding civic problem is solved . . . Here's the latest report from tonight's deadly shooting.

Homicide 6000 blk of Blue Hills Rd
This afternoon, just before 3:30 PM patrol officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of Blue Hills Road on a reported sound of shots. While in route the call was updated to a shooting.
As officers arrived they were directed to a vehicle in a parking lot. There they located an adult male victim and an adult female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel responded and pronounced the male victim deceased on scene. The female victim was transported to a local hospital where she died a short time later.
This is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are working to determine the events that led up to the shooting. They are canvassing the area and talking to any potential witnesses. Crime scene personnel are gathering evidence and reviewing any available surveillance footage.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

Two people died in a shooting Monday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri, police said. The shooting happened at the Charter Landing Apartments in the 6000 block of Blue Hills Road.
