Another look at escalating local violence even amid the holiday season . . . Here is the first report:
Homicide 51st and Indiana
This morning, just before 2:30 AM patrol officers were dispatched to 51st and Indiana on an ambulance in route call.
Upon arrival they located an individual outside of a vehicle near the intersection. Officers observed an adult male to be suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
This is being investigated as a homicide. Investigators are working to determine the events that led up to the shooting. Crime scene personnel are processing the scene for any physical evidence and detectives are canvassing the area for potential witnesses.
If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
