Former U.S. Prez Carter Passes

We were going to dump this item into the news compilation but, because it's the holiday season, it probably deserves special note. 

Former President Jimmy Carter passed away today died today at 100 years old. 

We encourage readers to share nicer notes . . .

For all the faults of his administration . . . A high-point of his tenure was when he told Americans to put on a sweater during Winter rather than turning up the heat . . . The advice probably helped doom his career but nowadays it's the line that TKC shares with every lady friend as they CONSTANTLY complain about being cold from late September till about June.

Also . . .

With help form Prez Biden . . . Most now remember former Prez Carter as an altogether decent man rather than the worst Prez since Hoover . . . A title that now probably belongs to the Biden/Harris administraiton.

But I digress . . .

Here's the basics tonight . .  . 

"Carter had been receiving hospice care since February 2023 at his home in Plains, Georgia, where he lived with his wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter. The former first lady, 96, died on Nov. 19, 2023.

"Carter was the first U.S. president to reach their 100th birthday."

Mayor Quinton Lucas posted this to social media . . . 

"Thank you to President Jimmy Carter for a lifetime of service to our country and our world.

"Many of us knew him only after his career in elected office ended, but learned much from his decency, integrity, and lifelong commitment to service. May he rest in peace."
