Did Kansas City Mayor Q Save Country Club Plaza 2024?!?

Most local newswatchers still don't forgive Mayor Q for yelling "no justice, no peace" in the middle of BLM riots that proved to the turning point for the historic entertainment district.

However . . .

The Mayor did work to talk up this year's recent purchase AND pledged to help owners turn the place around.

The result . . .

The new sushi place seems cool, a faux diamond store and fondue remains a staple of the plaza.

However . . .

There ares till DOZENS of empty storefronts and a lot of work to accomplish if the district plans to survive the tech demise of retail.

Here's a more optimistic overview . . .

The Country Club Plaza didn’t just welcome new tenants this year. It received an early Christmas gift in the form of a new ownership group that previously revitalized luxury retail center Highland Park Village in Dallas . . . The group plans to invest more than $100 million in the Plaza in a multiyear approach that includes increasing security, giving buildings and related infrastructure a facelift, attracting high-quality food and beverage tenants and recruiting other best-in-class local tenants. They also are focused on luring more luxury brands to the Plaza and bringing in high-end entertainment concepts.
