Kansas City Urban Farm Suffers Racial Accusations In Zoning Fight

Welp, we're finally going to say the quiet part out loud because nobody else is speaking up . . .

Ask around at city hall and you'll find that 3rd District leaders and many bureaucrats seemingly resent this urban farm because it's owned by white people in what is, historically, one of Kansas City's Black council districts.

This is a dangerous perception but it's at the heart of the discussion and everyone is too afraid to mention it.

From an unnecessary city crackdown to racial accusations hurled against the group.

The narrative is that Black officials and leaders are targeting the urban farm because of white owners and here at TKC we think this kind of thinking could ultimately destroy Kansas City if enough people truly believe that a diverse community can't thrive together.

Now that we've dispensed with the obvious . . . Let's get one more truism out of the way . . .

THE CRACKDOWN ON URBAVORE FARM THREATENS TO CHASE INVESTMENT AWAY FROM EAST SIDE KANSAS CITY!!!

Over the past few years we've seen a boom along Troost and so many hipster eager to throw money across Kansas City's "racial dividing line" that's disappearing quickly.

Sadly, this urban farm crackdown seems like political clap back against changing demographics and a sketchy power grab against a small business doing excellent environmental work.

There's a lot of info to share and the tragic fact is that people don't want to read it.

However . . .

A recent passage from today's post by the urban farm stands out . . . Here's what they have to say about the urban drama . . .

"After serious FALSE racial accusations, we are very aware of the degree to which we have and will continue to be defamed. There is no limit to the defamation and flat out LIES that will be spread about my family & the world we do for this city."

And now here's more detail and a link to more info . . .
