The most important part of this report is the tag line that casual readers might miss:
"Sponsored Content by Kansas City Area Transportation Authority"
Unfortunately, the KC Biz Journal report isn't open to comments and that's why we wanted to share it.
More importantly . . .
KCATA CLEARLY FEELS PRESSURE AMID RISING COMPLAINTS THAT THEY'RE MOSTLY WORKING AS A DEVELOPER SLUSH FUND!!!
We're not certain if a throwaway note in a local biz mag is a solution to their problems.
More context . . .
Let's not forget that the KCATA was recently DUMPED by Blue Springs.
However . . .
Because it's Sunday, we will also note that we appreciate that the report isn't behind the paywall so at least we can witness the sketchy argument without too much trouble . . . Here's the money line:
"Communities thrive where public transportation flows through a city. This is why we believe so strongly in transit-oriented community development (TOCD).
"TOCD is a way to build places and neighborhoods where it’s convenient to use public transportation, walk, bike or roll. It’s people-first urban planning — and it’s become a best practice nationwide because it creates vital, equitable and healthier cities."
