We're catching up to this latest homicide news that puts the local total in line with 2021 & 2022 numbers.
Again, the lower number and pace of deadly crime is welcomed from last year's deadly total. But it's worth reminding locals that the past 5 years remain the bloodiest in local history.

Homicide 10500 blk of E 42nd St
At around 10:18 PM patrol officers were dispatched to the 10500 block of E 42nd street on the report of a dead body.
Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim suffering from bodily trauma. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
This is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are canvassing the scene for anyone who may have heard or saw something. Crime scene investigators are working to collect all available physical evidence.
If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
