Critics Question KCPD Road Trip To Help Protect GOP Convention

Actually . . .

The answer seems kinda simple . . . KCPD on the road to help with any massive gathering that involves high-profile people and elected officials is an ESSENTIAL LEARNING EXPERIENCE for officers that will bring that training & experience back locally.

There really is no substitute for practical real life training and to begrudge the po-po over partisan concerns is to simply overlook the obvious.

Nevertheless . . .

Some activists question why the department chose to assist the political convention when the department is down about 300 officers.

Sheryl Ferguson, the founder of It’s Time 4 Justice, a Kansas City-based activist organization that has frequently spoken out against allegations of police brutality, said she was “flabbergasted” by the decision.

“We constantly keep hearing about how we don’t have enough officers on patrol and we’re actually going to send them somewhere else?” Ferguson said. “Doesn’t make sense to me.”
