All About Last Night's Kansas City 2024 Crime Spike Public Meeting

Despite TKC reader fears . . . Attendance was surprisingly good and public testimony was mostly useless but still important inasmuch as it's better to talk with real-life people rather than muttering to yourself after suffering more property crime.

"For most of the meeting instead of deciding on ordinances, the committee engaged in discussion on how to reduce crime. They showed stats showing car thefts up nearly 50% last fiscal year from just over 6,000 to just over 9,000 and property crime detectives down by 25% according to KCPD Police Chief Stacey Graves. But the department received a big boost in funding this year."
