Longstanding Kansas City Taxpayer Subsidy Funds More 18th & Vine Redevelopment

Just for the record . . .

Kansas City has "invested" more than 100 MILLION near 18th & Vine since 1990 and so far there's still no sustainable profit model for the district.

Even more context . . . Subsidy for the "Jazz District" has continued for nearly double the time of the American Jazz Age

Conservatively . . . The cash directed to this tiny swath of land is getting close to a QUARTER BILLION BUCKS.

Agree or disagree with this municipal tactic and its outcomes . . .  Here's a quote we've "liberated" from a local biz mag about more money for a local building that hosts quite a few influential political leaders:

"The city's Planned Industrial Expansion Authority last week supported a 25-year property tax abatement for the Lincoln Building's rehabilitation. Its owner will make annual $23,544 payments, equal to the building's current taxes, over the incentive's lifespan. Kansas City also approved $2.7 million for the project through its latest round of Central City Economic Development sales tax awards earlier this month."
